Lately, the first European Games took place in Baku. For many members of the TIBHAR family the aim in Azerbaijan was to gather medals and get qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.
Already in the team competitions the TIBHAR teams showed that they belong to the European top: The women team from the Netherlands won a silver medal after they were beaten in the finals against Germany.
Two TIBHAR sponsored teams stood in the finals of the men team competition: Portugal meets France. The reigning European champion team from the Iberian half peninsula could not be beaten in Baku and secured by a 3: 1 the gold medal, proving their supremacy of last year’s great performance where they were able to put on the European crown for the first time.
Even in the individual competitions the TIBHAR Stars were able to convince, first and foremost, of course, Vladimir Samsonov, who had to leave the gold medal in a heart-breaking match to his friend Ovtcharov, but has yet again played a great tournament.
Very briefly, the Briton Paul Drinkhall missed a medal. Once he was able to defeat the favorite Freitas (Portugal) in the quarterfinals, he was beaten in an exciting game and left the 3rd place to the Ukrainian Kou Lei.
Congratulations to all champions and TIBHAR players. The premiere of the European Games definitely makes you want more!
