Chantal Mantz is the first U21 European Champion

At the first U21 European Championships in Sochi, there were two bronze medals for the young TIBHAR junior talents from Slovenia and one Gold medal for Germany.
The 2015 European Champions, Darko Jorgić (*1998) and Deni Kožul (*1997), showed that in singles too they belong to the best players in Europe. Both made it into the semi-finals, where at first each one of them seemed to have full control over their opponents, before the game at the end turned to their disadvantage. Nevertheless, it represents an excellent result for the two young talents and for the Slovenian table tennis Federation.
The DTTB was very satisfied too about the results: The women final was purely a German matter.

Between the two friends Chantal Mantz and Yuan Wan, who already won the 2016 German Championship in women double, the last match was tight. After a backup of 1:2, Chantal won three sets in a row and secured the earned gold medal. This is the second continental title of the 20-year-old Tibhar player in her still young career.

The unanimously well-organized tournament in Sochi represents the first U21 European Championships in history. The event was created with the aim of making the transitional phase between youth careers and the European top easier and bringing them closer to the level of the top stars.
