Czech Open 2019

The Czech Open 2019, which is part of the ITTF World Tour, took place in Olomouc from 20 until 25 August 2019.
The two TIBHAR players Cristian Pletea and Vladimir Samsonov convinced with their good performances: Vladimir Samsonov managed to defeat the German defender Ruwen Filus, but unfortunately, he lost 1:4 in round 16 against his teammate Dimitrij Ovtcharov.

The Romanian player Cristian Pletea caused the biggest sensation of the tournament – the Romanian met against Tomokazu Harimoto (WR 4) in the round of the last 32.

After a score of 0:2 and a 1:3 down in set, the Romanian battled back and could turn in the seventh set directly the first match ball, so that at the end he stood with a 4:3 victory against the big favorite from Japan. “That is the biggest win of my career”, said the 20-year old at the end of the game in an interview with the ITTF.

In the next round, Pletea was beaten 3:4 by the Japanese Yuki Hirano. The Taiwanese Lin Yun-Ju was the winner of the tournament.
